First off: I'm a bit disappointed. It was set in an AU, so it wasn't *technically* a prequel to TOS. Not in the strictest sense.
However, it was a great movie in its own right. The character=spot on. Except Uhura. For some reason I wasn't feeling her aura from her. But I missed the first ten minutes so that might have had something to do with it.
Anyway, the most spot-on were, to me, McCoy, Chekhov, and Sulu. I mean wow. They were amazing. Oh, and Scotty was done really well, also. "I like this ship! It's exciting!" Which was in the trailers but way funnier in the actual movie.
Hmm, the special effects were amazing and blew me away. There were weird lens flares in odd places, but other than that...wow. Wow. The black holes, the "red matter".... It was all so mind-blowing. @_@
I got to see where I can find the first ten minutes. Hmmm.
